Fr. K. V. Alias

Fr. K. V. Alias has been Lecturer at the Orthodox Theological Seminary since 2011. Having completed his graduate degree in Physics from Mahatma Gandhi University, he did his theological education (Bachelor in Divinity) from the United Theological College at Bangalore(1996). He earned his Masters in Theology in Old Testament from the Federated Faculty for Research in Religion and Culture (Kottayam) under the Senate of Serampore in 2000.

Being an Old Testament Biblical Scholar, his areas of teaching are Biblical hermeneutics, Methodologies in Biblical Studies, Post Biblical Judaism, Wisdom Literatures and Life and Faith of People of God in the Hebrew Bible. His is also the main lecturer for Biblical Hebrew at preliminary and advanced levels at the Seminary. Fr. Alias is also a guest lecturer at the St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary at Nagpur. He was Programme of the Samanvaya Ecumenical Study and Dialogue Centre at Pampakuda Coordinator for 14years. He was also Director of Orthodox Vacation Bible School of the Church for last 8 years.

Apart from supervising Preaching Practice for Seminary students, he also holds additional responsibilities within the Malankara Church such as:

  1. Controller of Examination, OSSAE.
  2. Director of Kandanad East Diocese Sunday School Association
  3. In-charge of the Orthodox Study Bible Project of MGOCSM

Fr. K. V. Alias has several published articles in several series of the Kandanadu Diocesan Bulletin as well as study materials and articles for OVBS and Sunday School(revised curriculum). He has also authored many articles in ‘The Bible Vijnanakosham’ published by TLC, Thiruvalla.
